Does the left hand know what the right hand is doing? Oh I am sure they know exactly what their doing.. but you be the judge.
This first element comes from the EU Parliament;
A freeze on the 2014-2020 budget will not be possible unless agreed policies are slashed, the European Parliament said in a vote yesterday (8 June), challenging countries that want to freeze the EU’s long-term spending to reflect austerity at home.
A minimum increase of 5% in the EU budget is needed if the bloc is to complete all its agreed objectives, such as putting in place a common diplomatic service and boosting its economy, the Parliament said. (source)
And this affront to our intelligence goes on whilst The European Parliament is refusing to release a secret report detailing widespread abuse of MEPs expenses despite an EU court ruling that there is “overriding public interest in disclosure”. (source)
The second element from the EU Commission;
The European taskmaster has cracked the whip. However much austerity has been imposed by EU member states, it is simply not enough.
That is the overriding message from the European Commission that runs through its recommendations for each of the 27 member states in the new, post-crisis system of radically centralised oversight and correction of national economic policies by the EU known as the ‘European Semester’. (source)
and in a further move by the EU Commission reminiscent of Tony Blair’s ‘Back to Work’ policy designed to get women into the workplace, or rather on the tax treadmill;
Housewives are being urged by the European Commission to go back to work.
Brussels says it wants stay-at-home mothers in Germany, Austria and Holland to take up jobs to avoid a looming labour shortage.
‘Germany must better integrate women into the labour market,’ said the Commission, in a report on the German economy.
‘Germany, but also Austria and the Netherlands, should look at the example of the northern countries,’ said European Commission President José Manuel Barroso, in a reference to Scandinavia. (source)
As prices and inflation will continue to rise, the days when any family will be able to afford to live from a single wage….
Power and Tax – The EU are determined to force austerity at home, spend more themselves and tax everyone, directly (definitely on the agenda) and indirectly until there is nothing left to take.
nb. Options to fuel the EU’s future budget include an EU tax which could take several forms: a tax on air transport or a share of new financial, corporate or energy taxes, as well as an EU VAT.
They’re advocating precisely what I think should be the opposite. I think if mothers have the choice to stay home, they should be able to. I was fortunate in being able to stay home until my kids went to school and then I only worked part-time while they were attending. I have brought up (against a few odds, I can tell you) a couple of decent, intelligent daughters with good morals and a sense of logic. They have never roamed the streets or been in trouble with the police because I was always there to take care of them.
I suppose the next step will be to take away children at birth so they can be brought up by the state and moulded into good, compliant, productive little slaves.
Sue,
I totally agree with you, however as someone else has written over at Orphans of Liberty, The Family is the greatest threat to the Central State.

IPJ: In answer to you response to Sue, I too have commented on Raedwald”s article over at OoL, towit, Like Ironies Too, I believe that unless we are able to install small government with a dose of “Referealism” the populace will eventually march on Parliament and MPs surely will adorn lamp posts!

I’ve found some piano wire in the draw, but not sure it’s long enough. I’ll write to my MP today and ask for his collar size. Do I need to do it as an FOI request?
