Freedom is Never Free

As we approach the annual November 11th Remembrance Day of our fighting heroes, the protectors of our freedom, we must remind those politicians who look for short term political kudos, that our freedom has been hard won by those who are and have always been willing to put their lives on the line, for us.

It does not come cheap, it does not come for free.

This image, brilliantly produced by Lawson Narse, is a timely reminder as our political managers argue over the costs in the Strategic Defence Review.

To Cameron and Fox I say, do not sell them down the river. You only have the life you have today, and the positions you hold, because so many before you were willing to make the ultimate sacrifice to ensure your rights and freedoms.

Whilst there many hardships, lies, cuts, underhand deals or criminality that the British will endure from our politicians, the Defence of the Realm is not one of them.

Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks.  Their children, brought up easy, let it slip away again, poor fools.  And their grandchildren are once more slaves.  ~D.H. Lawrence

His extensive overseas experiences have made him all too aware of how the UK interacts with its near neighbours, its place in the Commonwealth, and how our nation fits into the wider world. He is determined to rebuild many of the friendships and commercial relationships with other nations that have been sadly neglected over the years, and would like to see greater energy and food security in these countries, for the benefit of all. Ian is a vocal advocate of small government, individual freedom, low taxation and a minimum of regulation. Ian believes deeply and passionately in freedom and independence in all areas of life, and is now bringing his professional experiences to bear in the world of politics.

I wish I could send a copy to every MP.

They don’t care. They’ve given our freedom away to the most oppressive dictatorship since Nazi Germany.

The defence of our realm should never be up for grabs ever, it is the key to our freedom.

On a personal note I am interested in the themes that will be announced in the SDSR. The outcome will only be ideas which will be investigated and modified by the stated committee for introduction sometime next year.

The lies, please don’t start me on that…

    • CP, I too wonder how many plumb jobs will come out of the SDR, how many new committees, how many new quangos, staffed with revolving door MOD and Defence Contractor personnel.

But, certainly on this blog, we never take anything said by government at face value.. we know better..
