A Tory wakes up – realises the Stasi are coming

A senior Tory,
Shadow Local Government Minister Eric Pickles has finally woken up, and realised that NuLab has built a network of Stasi spies and informers.

I really do despair when the opposition, who are trying to play just in time politics, nearly always make it just too late. This should have been stopped when the Bills were going through parliament.

What use is it to have a Shadow minister bleating now, just to pretend to show that he is interested, when he didn't have any interest when the Smoking Ban was being debated in parliament.

Eric Pickles accused Labour ministers of introducing heavy handed
“Stasi State” methods to enforce the new laws which come into force in
England from July 1, and which will be backed up by fines imposed by
local councils. (source).

What on earth did he think they were doing when they introduced the Smoking Ban ?.

It does help if some of these Tory MP's could take their noses out of the troughs and put aside their own self interest long enough to read the legislation put in front of them, but there again, we understand self interest when the Smoking Ban doesn't apply in the Parliamentary Bars whilst you enjoy your duty and VAT free wine and beer.

No doubt that will be the last we here from the Tories about this then. Made the token gesture to let the people know that they have protested about a totalitarian state, so it'll be back to the cheap bar for a pint and a cigar.

Where were the opposition when this country needed them, when the 26,000 new laws were going through the House ? Where will they be when the voters tell them where to go in the elections ?

Unless the Conservative Party can get its finger out of its sleepy Anal Sphincter they are of little use to me or the rest of Britain.

Perhaps they would like to begin to redeem themselves by reading the Serious Crime Bill, and realise that this is the end of 'innocent until proven guilty', and includes 'seizure upon demand, whether convicted or not'.

Real libertarian legislation (not), which is swanning through parliament without a sound of dissent from the Tories. Just remember chaps, when you are voted out of your safe seats and become civvies again, all this stuff will apply to you too.
